NY Fashion Week

Wow- it is always a whirlwind during fashion week and this past week was no exception. In addition, on September 4th, I presented my Spring/Summer ’14 collection throughout the day to fashion bloggers and editors. The event was hosted at Queue Agency’s showroom, where a delightful spread of champagne and cupcakes was provided to guests as they viewed the vibrant and feminine pieces of the collection. I drew my inspiration for the prints in the collection from the photos I took while I was traveling in India. I’m really glad I got to share my collection with so many people. It was a really fun and successful event, and every guest got to take home a Rowenta iron or steamer.
This year’s New York Fashion Week was held at Lincoln Center, and, as always, it was buzzing with excitement, creativity, and talent. I got to go to a lot of shows as a brand representative for Rowenta who is the official garment care sponsor of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week NY. There were so many interesting looks this year. I particularly enjoyed Jenny Packham’s show, which was an absolute standout for me. Her stunning beadwork made her collection glamorous yet elegant. Jenny Packham and all of the other designers put in so much work and the shows were really fantastic. It always interesting to see how the different designs interpret the the season.

This year I also got to participate as a judge in Project Subway! It was a fun spin-off of Project Runway, except it was sponsored by Subway. They challenged four designers to create looks entirely out of materials found at Subway restaurants (napkins, straws, etc.) As a Project Runway alum, I got to be on the judging panel, along with America’s Got Talent judge and former Spice Girl Mel B, gold medalist Nastia Liukin, City Girl Diaries’ Raina Seitel, and Lori Ann Marchese, Mrs. Connecticut 2013. The famous face of Subway, Jared Fogle, was the master of ceremonies. Ultimately, Jared had to break the tie between two designers, naming Danilo Gabrielli the winner of the competition and of a yearlong supply of Subway! It was a lighthearted event and a good time all around!
