Capsule – Making a Woman’s Life Easy

History of the Capsule

“The Capsule”, I always mention it when I talk with clients about picking and choosing from the Turn It On® line of clothing.  As a women, I want the versatility to mix and match, all the while keeping it simple and not having a retail store going on in my closet. In the fashion industry we call this “The Capsule”. The term capsule wardrobe was coined back in the 70’s by a store owner in England. The Capsule is a collection of essential items of clothing which will not go out of fashion and therefore can be worn season after season. The aim of the Capsule is to use it as a base and update the Capsule collection with seasonal pieces. In this way, we have something to wear for any occasion without buying lots of clothes for each season . The formula of a Capsule suggests that a woman’s Capsule wardrobe contain at least 2 pairs of trousers, a skirt, a jacket, a coat, a knit dress, two pairs of shoes and two hand bags.

Fast forward to the 1980’s and enter my all-time favorite designer, Donna Karan.  She introduced a new version of the Capsule! She took this fabulous Capsule idea and popularized it in America by introducing the “7 Easy Pieces” collection. Her thoughts were to fill a void in the marketplace for a stylish and practical wardrobe designed with working women in mind. When the collection debuted, Donna Karan showed eight models dressed only in bodysuits and black tights. The models then began to add items of clothing such as wrap-skirts, trousers, and dresses, to demonstrate her interchangeable style of dressing.

Now let’s fast forward to 2015! Turn It On Fitness is the trend setting company creating a Capsule line of mix and match fitness fashion wear that takes you to the gym or studio, but also to lunch, shopping and to a party at night. Turn It On is  your all day foundation, creating a Capsule similar to Donna Karan in the 80’s.  Just intermix your wardrobe/lifestyle with a Turn It On Capsule and make your life a whole lot easier. We don’t try to change your life. We go along with your life. If a client asks me to create a capsule collection for her, I begin the process by getting to know her, her closet and her lifestyle. Like the store owner back in the 70’s from England, Turn It On suggests a skirt, two pants, a jacket and a top that matches the client’s desires. These pieces are not only interchangeable with each other but fuse seamlessly with the client’s wardrobe. This Capsule formula from Turn It On provides a unique all day/night approach and works perfectly season after season by simply adding style from your closet to the Capsule from Turn It On.  So the next time you go shopping, keep the Capsule in mind.  It will make your life a lot easier and save you money in the long run.
